Ingersoll Rand SK4M14 1/2-Inch Drive 14-Piece Metric Standard Impact Socket Set

Great price and free shipping were key. This is a great set and my husband was really impressed. He said they are great tools. Would recommend.
There’s not a lot to add to the description and other reviews, but to say what value this set appears to be. I was placing an order for an Ingersoll-Rand 2130 1/2-Inch Heavy-Duty Air Impact Wrench, my first impact wrench and needed a set of sockets (Do NOT use sockets with an impact wrench that are not made specifically as impact sockets at they may shatter with the hammering.) I didn’t want to spend more time on the internet making comparisons, and just intended to pick up a 12-piece metric set at Sears. As I checked out on Amazon, this 14-piece was suggested. Hmmmm. It was half the price of the smaller Craftsman set. It was Ingersoll-Rand, and I believed them to be very reputable. I made sure that it had the sizes I needed for lugs on the family car and family truckster. I’d be dumb not to order it, take the time to drive across town, fight my way into the mall and spend twice as much plus tax to get the smaller Craftsman set, so I ordered this set.
The set arrived today. I intend to post pictures in the next couple of days. Like another reviewer said, the size of the case IS ridiculous. It’s not even that there is space for additional sockets. There is just a lot of “padding” space around the two rows of sockets. I do have this to say, though. The latches are actual hinges, and not just flexing plastic that will eventually break off with use. Also, to complete my comparison, the Craftsman set doesn’t come with a case at all.
Other than that, I have to problems to report with the product. The sockets all appeared to be well-made with an excellent, consistent finish. Time will tell how they hold up, but I didn’t want to hold off reviewing them for another 100 years or so to see.
Other reviewers have said everything to be said about the sockets themselves. But, the size of the carrying case is beyond ridiculous. Most of us would expect to put a 14-piece socket set into a tool-chest drawer. Not these. They come in a case that could easily hold a 140-piece socket set.
The quality of the carrying case is quite good. However, it’s so large that I plan to remove the sockets and cut the molded part out and use it as a tool box for larger tools. As for the sockets, I plan to buy a socket holder and store them in my tool-chest.
By the way, if you need a good 6pt 1/2 drive socket set that’s not “impact” class, consider the Pittsburgh set at Harbor Freight. When on sale, it’s under $20. However, that set excludes some sizes such as 21mm that are incomprehensible.
Arrived on time and in excellent condition. Very nice carrying case to store them in, Porter Cable should take a lesson from them.
These are some beefy sockets. Great engraving, clearly visible, high gloss black finish. The plastic blow-molded case is top notch, too. Cant go wrong here. All my other non-IR branded sockets look like crap compared to these.
